This large bar space incorporates a stunning white marble bar beneath a working wine-store gantry, along with intimate combinations of bar table dining. Look up and you’ll discover the century-old magic of the original Post Office building. The ceiling details carpentry comprising original dark timber woodwork patterned to form a perfect backdrop to the public bar’s dramatic lighting. Speaking of lighting, don’t miss the magnificent tower as you step into the building. It’s easy to find – just look up.

The hustle and bustle of Swan Street has never looked so good when you sip a cold beer in the Post Office beer garden. It’s right on the street, set amongst a laid back design of formed concrete, timber and steel. The laser cut mural gives the effect of flight as the backlit colours phase through the night. For trivia buffs – the series of tables and benches cantilevered at different heights off the wall are inspired by musical notes on a scale, our tribute to the building’s brief incarnation as a jazz club. The entire beer garden is heated, and covered for winter with retractable awnings. So, the obvious question – have our designers thought of everything? Yes.

We offer groups of eight to ten our private room. It’s the only space in the venue that can be booked and can offer either a dining experience (via a stunning Vic-ash dining table) or a cocktail feel (with loose chairs, bench seats and cocktail tables). When the space isn’t booked, its free for all access. Grab a bottle of wine and a cheese platter. Perfect.

For groups of 8 to 10 people we offer our Private Room. For larger group and events we ask you to keep in mind the venue is small, and as such we can’t offer any area exclusively. The way it works best is tell us you’re coming and tell us what for (birthday, work drinks, engagement etc). Tell us how many people and what time you’re arriving. We’ll always do our best to work with groups and functions but the reality is loose gatherings work best at Post Office Bar Pizza.
We are happy to hold private events from Sunday through to Thursday, and for any other style functions we recommend Holliava or Richmond Club Hotel – both of which are in Swan Street, Richmond – or Prahran Hotel, in Prahran.

It’s hard to deny – there’s something just so cool about letters. About sending post cards. About pen and paper. Something so cool and, maybe, romantic? Whatever it is we all agree, so we’ve installed a post box at Post Office Hotel to help with your letter-writing! Here’s the deal – any letter or post card posted in the Hotel’s Post Box will be stamped and sent by us. For free! For nothing! And the Hotel Post Cards are free as well. So there it is.
